Yogi Adityanath govt in UP to make 80% attendance compulsory, biometric system to check student attendance, will regulate school fees

The Yogi Adityanath led government in Uttar Pradesh has also readied a draft of the ordinance planned to regulate school fees charged by private schools and put it up on the website of the secondary education department for suggestions.

“We are planning to make 80 percent attendance of students (from classes 9th to 12th) compulsory. At the same time biometric system of attendance would also be made mandatory for teachers,” Principal Secretary Jitendra Kumar said.

He added that the state government has already uploaded a draft Act of the ordinance pertaining to the school fees charged by private schools on the official website of the secondary education department.

“Suggestions have also been invited from the public. A committee of the department will also study the similar drafts of different states including Punjab and Gujarat,” he said.

The Uttar Pradesh government is considering to bring ordinance to regulate admissions and fees.

Director Secondary Education A N Verma said that these points are under consideration by the government and may be implemented in the near future.
