The Aam Artistes Cine and Tv Workers Association, India (AACTA India) has appointed actor Tara Singh as its chairperson and chief Patron. AACTA India under the new leadership of Tara Singh today announced several projects, schemes and programs to support and promote fresh and upcoming artistes, actors, singers, musicians and dancers.
AACTA India which is one of well-known models, artistes, actors, singers, film technicians, trade workers and musicians’ forum has announced scholarships for deserving actors and musicians to pursue further and advanced training in their respective fields.
Tara Singh also launched a historical web series for upcoming actors titled Puru and Alexander directed by Maneesh Singh.
Speaking to media persons in Mumbai on Monday, Tara Singh without naming any artiste or film industry trade associations or unions criticized certain unions and associations for charging membership fees running into several thousand. “Some of them charge Rs 35,00 to Rs one lakh as membership fees. Even annual or yearly renewal fees run into several thousand. How will artistes and film industry and film trade workers like make up personnel, hair dresses, assistant camera men etc get a chance to work in the industry if the unions charge them such huge amounts initially, she asked, adding that AACTA India has launched a membership drive and is offering several incentives to artistes and actors including free training, port folios, etc., None of the present unions or associations give or guarantee artistes and trade workers any work. They just set unacceptable terms which are not suitable for upcoming and new producers. Both artistes and producers are harmed in the long run by such unreasonable terms set by certain unions,” Singh opined.
